In early 2023, Divine Drops had the honor of partnering with U Noj Nahil Luum, a local organization working with the community of Nueva Jerusalén in Bacalar, Mexico—a small and resilient village that faces daily challenges, including the lack of basic services like electricity and running water.
Despite these limitations, this community is filled with strength, wisdom, and a powerful desire to grow—especially when it comes to supporting their youth. After a thoughtful meeting between local leaders and our team, including our educator Paola, we co-designed a series of three workshops from our health education curriculum that addressed the most pressing needs identified by the community—particularly around puberty, menstruation, and parent-child communication.
The first weekend, we hosted two workshops: “Our Cycle” and “How to Talk with My Children About Their First Period”

The sessions sparked meaningful conversations, helping families feel more equipped to talk openly and supportively with their children about their changing bodies.
The following weekend, we returned with our Puberty and Anatomy workshop, engaging 30 enthusiastic participants—many of them teenagers beginning to navigate this transformative stage of life.
This time, we complemented our posters with printed handouts, including: The Period Report Card, Period trackers and your fifth vital sign Chart
These hands-on materials allowed participants to better understand their menstrual health and apply what they learned in a practical, lasting way. We also led interactive games and group activities, making learning fun and inclusive for everyone involved.
At the end of the session, we gifted reusable menstrual pads to the girls who attended—ensuring that what they learned could be supported with access to safe, sustainable menstrual products.

What made these workshops truly special was the sense of openness and mutual learning. Children and teens asked deeply insightful questions about their bodies and experiences—questions that reflected a genuine curiosity and a desire to understand themselves without shame.
We left Nueva Jerusalén with full hearts, grateful for the trust, participation, and warmth of a community committed to breaking cycles of silence and misinformation.
At Divine Drops, we believe that education is a tool for liberation, and these workshops are a powerful reminder that even in the most underserved settings, transformation begins with conversation, community, and care.
